IAS Faculty Address Hot Topics

As part of the celebratory events for HKUST's 25th anniversary, two lAS faculty members were invited to share with the regional community the latest research knowledge in fields that concerns the world today.

At the 25A global celebration in Beijing, Prof Sir Christopher Pissarides talked about Chinese Economic Development in a Global Context, suggesting what to expect in the coming years in the face of a volatile global economy. At the 25A Distinguished Speakers Series on HKUST campus, Prof George Smoot engaged the audience with the fascinating discovery of gravitational waves—a century-old prediction first proposed by the legendary Einstein—and how this revelation could lead to new views of black holes and astronomy.
